Interview with Naile Ivegin

ISM -Can you tell us about yourself?

Naile: I was born on 29 May 1985 in Adana. I'm one of the 4 girls in my family and I also have two brothers. I started school in Adana and finished my whole education there as well.

ISM - Can you tell us about your family?

Naile: I have a family which is totally bound to sports. Except my mother as a housewife, all other family members play or played basketball. My father played for Kadikoyspor in Istanbul. 3 sisters and one brother still play basketball.

ISM - Let's listen to your story of starting to play basketball?

Naile: I started basketball with the try-outs made at the Ömer Haluk Özuçak Elementary School at the 4th grade. I also started my career at Botas Spor along with these try-outs.

ISM - What are the clubs that you have played for so far?

Naile: Botas Spor.

ISM - What are key points that have changed your life during your basketball career?

Naile: I had to stay away from my family more as my basketball career evolved. But the success that I had made my life easier. It was easier to get in the college with the help of basketball. I also learned how to cope with life with the help of injuries and rainy days.

ISM - What are your individual and team acihevements so far?

Naile:

ISM - Do you have a role model or any player with whom you would like to play?

Naile: Yasemin Horasan, DeLisha Milton, Saziye Karsli, Birsel Vardarli, Cappie Pondexter.

ISM - What points do you like and dislike about yourself?

Naile: I'm a hustling team player. This what I like the most about me. I dislike to get lost during the game and be slow.

ISM - Can you share a memory that you can not forget with us?

Naile: I pulled the draw for the Turkish Cup in Canakkale in the name of my team, Botas Spor. We won the cup and I was the youngest member of the team. I was so excited when we had the cup and the medals.

ISM - Have you received any offer to play abroad? Would you accept if you get in the future?

Naile: I haven't received such an offer yet but if I get one, I will definetely consider that.

ISM - What are your hobbies besides basketball?

Naile: I really have very little time out of basketball. I try to go to cinema and shopping whenever I have some time.

ISM - What are your advises for the children who start playing basketball ?

Naile: They need to love what they do. They will have to work hard sacrifice a lot for the future. They have to set goals and trust their coaches to achieve those goals.

ISM - Anything you want to add ?

Naile: Women's basketball reached a good level in Turkey. I hope it will be much better and followed by more people in the future.
