An interview with Dragana Vukovic

Dragana Vukovic, ex player of Red Star, BC "Macva", Kovin and Vojvodina, who is playing now for the several time Turkish champion team I.U.S.K. from Istanbul . We asked Dragana about Istanbul , Turkish basketball, food, her impressions and agency that she is a member now...

ISM: For the beginning, tell us how did you continue your career in Turkey ?

Dragana: I can tell you everything happened by case. I was on Internet and I found ISM agency. I made application,and after that everything happened incredibly quick. In a few days I was in Turkey playing a game for I.U.S.K.

ISM: What are your impressions of Istanbul and Turkey ?

Dragana: Istanbul is a wonderful town, mix of the old culture and modern time, that's I like it. I hope I will find and meet it during this year. People are very kind and polite. When they see that I am foreigner they want to help me in any way.

ISM: Championship has begun and you played the first game, before that, you had played several friendship games. What do you think about league quality and compare it with league in SCG?

Dragana: I think that Turkish league has a very good quality. There are a lot of foreign players, but also a lot of good Turkish players. I comparation with league in Serbia and Montenegro , Turkish league is better.

ISM: It's yours first time to play professionally out of our country, does the coach want from you something different than coaches in SCG?

Dragana: We are playing faster, with more shooting and we change defense frequently here. Even though, I found my place very fast in that way of playing.

ISM: Is the system of practicing same in Turkey as in SCG and if it is not where are the differences?

Dragana: Yes, it's almost the same. Maybe, we worked out more on defense in SCG.

ISM: Very good players from Russia , Bulgaria , SCG , USA and WNBA are playing on your position almost in all other teams, what are your thoughts and do you think you will play successfully against them?

Dragana: There are many good players on my position in the other teams. That gives me a motivation to play a little better than it's my maximum. I think I can play successfully against them. It will be very interesting.

ISM: What are your plains for the future when we are talking about basketball?

Dragana: Now I only think about championship which started last week and the best result of my team. Next seasons I would like to play in Italy and France . Of course, WNBA is a great challenge for me.

ISM: How do you spend your free time, are there any other athlete from SCG and do you spend a time with the girls from your team?

Dragana: For now I spend my free time meeting the town. Everything is new for me and very interesting. Here are the volleyball players Ivan Knezevic and Kemal Seceragic and statistic man Nedeljko Osmankac from SCG. Because of practices, we are meeting only during the weekend. Girls from the team are very good and we always have some fun.

ISM: Turkish language, difficult or are you yet learning slowly?

Dragana: It's not difficult, I am learning slowly. There are a lot o the same or similar words in Serbian language (fluent of the five centuries :) ).

ISM: Tell us some of the first words you learned.

Dragana: Naslsn? Ijem ( How are you?- Find.) Karpus, seftali, elma (watermelon, peach, apple ), odzak, subat (January, February), bir, iki, uc (1,2,3), tesekur (thank you ), pazar, pazartis, sali (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday).

ISM: Now, something about food, how is going in that way? Do you miss yours mother's cooking? What do you like to eat and what is your favorite Turkish meal?

Dragana: Of course I miss my mother's meals specially Parisian meat and bean with dry meat. Idon't have many problems with food, because I like to eat everything and to taste everything. I tasted some very delicious meals but I don't know their's names. My favorite sweet is asure.

ISM: We hope that the basketball funs in SCG will read this interview, do you have any message for somebody in your country?

Dragana: Thanks to everybody who believed in me and my abilities.

ISM: We know that you are using mobile telephone in large sum and SMS message, too, even though will you say hello to somebody on the net, hahaha?

Dragana: To mother, father, brother, hahaha.
